Just Around the Corner

It's hard to believe, but the holidays are just around the corner, so to speak.

The grocery stores have already put out the Halloween candies and costumes, as well as everything you need to decorate for a Halloween party. I'm expecting the huge pallets of pumpkins to make their appearances any day now. (They've probably already in the stores!)

As we (hubby and I) were shopping the other day, we came across a huge display of walnuts and pecans in the middle of the aisle in the fruit section. The question was whether or not I should go ahead and buy a couple of bags, because the closer it gets to the holidays, the harder it is to find walnuts and pecans, and hubby said I would need them for the cookies I'm going to bake for him. (lol)  I didn't get any, but by the end of the month, I'll probably start picking up stuff I'll need for the holidays.

Actually, I like baking. I just don't do it as much as I used too.

Yesterday, I came across a recipe book in the book display by the mailboxes at work. It was filled with fall recipes: pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin lattes, stews filled with potatoes and squash. the pictures next to each recipe looked yummy.

Unfortunately, all the pumpkin recipes have got me thinking about the Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks. I absolutely love them. And I really need a good, sugar-free recipe for them.

Honestly, I love the holidays, the fall and winter weather (the cold and rain is perfect to me), and the smells of pumpkin and gingerbread baking in the oven.
